In this myth, the monster had the ability to regenerate two heads each time one was severed. He lived in the great lake of Lerna, and therefore is also known as Lernaean Hydra. Because this animal fantasy had a poisonous breath, Heracles and his nephew Iolaus face covered with a cloth. To prevent regenerasen heads whenever the cut did burn wound, which was cauterized, and so defeated the great beast.
